Charity of the Month: C.A.S.A.

CASA link

Many moons ago, my husband Teon and I began our traveling book fair company, serving corporations, businesses, hospitals and community events throughout the state. One of the most important aspects of our business is that at the end of each event, we donate a portion of our proceeds to a charity of our client’s choice.ย  Over the course of 14 years, we’ve donated to the most amazing people and organizations on the planet; the March of Dimes, The American Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, The MS Foundation, All Children’s Hospital, to name a few.

Giving to others has always been a big part of our lives, and we make it a point to help our brothers and sisters in need in our community and around the world. In continuing in our long-standing family tradition, we are going to be donating a portion of our proceeds from our handmade business, Zoetik, to a different charity each month. From time to time, we ask our friends, family and fans to suggest great community organizations that are really helping to make an impact in the world.

For the month of February, we wanted to highlight an organization called C.A.S.A., which stands forย  Community Action Stops Abuse. Located in downtown, St. Petersburg, Florida, this wonderful organization assists families who have been victims of domestic violence. CASA assists these families with housing, counseling, food, clothing and all around support. They also have community programs and events geared toward raising awareness of domestic violence. CASA even has a thrift store on premises that is open to the public. Each item in the store is donated from the community and proceeds from every purchase goes back into CASA’s programs.

In the past, Teon and I have been personally involved with this amazing organization. Here are some pictures from our most favorite CASA project we did in collaboration with Home Depot and other amazing volunteers in the community back in 2010. This Kaboom playground is located near one of their centers to help children to just be children during their family’s transition and recovery at the center.

We will feature a different charity or organization every month. Do you know of a great charity that is helping to make an impact in your community or in another part of the world? Please let us know. We love to highlight individuals and companies that have a big heart ๐Ÿ™‚ Stay tuned—we will feature some incredible organizations coming up in the next few months that will blow your mind! lol
